Warning: Voice-changing technology can be misused for fraud. If someone calls you claiming to be a family member, bank official, or government agent asking for money or personal information, hang up and verify through a known number.
Common Voice-Based Scams
Impersonation Scam
Scammer uses a modified voice to pretend to be a family member in distress, asking for urgent money transfers.
Defense: Call the person back on their known number. Ask a personal question only they would know.
Bank Fraud
Scammer impersonates bank staff with a "professional" altered voice, requesting account verification or OTP codes.
Defense: Banks never ask for OTPs or passwords by phone. Hang up and call your bank directly.
Business Email/Voice Compromise
Scammer mimics an executive's voice to authorize urgent wire transfers or reveal sensitive information.
Defense: Establish a verification protocol for financial requests. Use a secondary channel to confirm.
Voice Authentication Bypass
Scammer attempts to bypass voice-based security systems using modified or synthesized speech.
Defense: Use multi-factor authentication. Avoid relying solely on voice for security.
